It started with a question…
A long-standing question I have heard in personal training for years in many gyms in and around England is “does weight training make me muscley?”
It turned into a statement over time…
A long-standing statement I have heard in personal training for years, in many gyms in and around Surrey is “I don’t want to get big a bulky”.
If that were the case, I would be creating many female athletes. Females do not have the capacity to become big and bulky, simply because of there hormonal system. My personal training here in Epsom, Surrey I have always used weight training as part of the routine to improve overall health, it is not something I have ever experienced where my client has got big and bulky due to weight training. In my online personal training and my personal training in Epsom, I make clear that the main cause of any weight gain is greed.
Eating to many calorie rich foods will put on muscular size, it simply is as easy as controlling what you eat. It starts in the gut with digestion; we are not what we eat, not what we digest, but what we absorb a process of assimilation.
Training breaks down muscular tissue, combined with nutrient rich foods you will put on size. Many will say to you, size is not a problem if you’re fat percentage is low, which in term is true however we have many joints in our body which would disagree, compact complex structures made up of bone, muscles, synovium, cartilage and ligaments; they are designed to bear our bodyweight: too much weight will impact the performance of the joint and muscle weighs more than fat so more muscle means less stable joints.
The cardiovascular system is another complex design which if your bodyweight is too heavy will limit your daily tasks that need to be done, this can cause you to feel fatigued…overall try to train to become lighter and leaner.
