UNDERstanding my methodology for Strength and Conditioning

The Training Pyramid is used to explain the importance of foundations in coaching, on the right you can see that nutrition is priority. You can train just 3x per week and with the right nutrition you will see significant changes to the body.

Below we have the S&C Pyramid which is used when in metabolic conditioning, gymnastics, weightlifting and sport. 

  1. Nutrition – Nutrition is the science that interprets the nutrients and other substances in food in relation to maintenance, growth, reproduction, health and disease of an organism. It includes ingestion, absorption, assimilation, biosynthesis, catabolism and excretion.
  2. Metabolic Conditioning – Metabolic conditioning simply refers to structured patterns of work and rest periods to elicit a desired response from the body. This desired response is usually to maximize efficiency of a particular energy system. (phosphagen, glycolytic, aerobic)
  3. Gymnastics – You’re thinking, I only want to get in shape, I don’t want to know how to do a back flip? Well, that’s fine because I can’t land a successful backflip either. its true I have the video evidence for this! In strength and conditioning there are many assistant gymnastic exercises that will be added in before we progress onto weightlifting.
  4. Weightlifting – Weight training is a common type of strength training for developing the strength and size of skeletal muscles. It utilizes the force of gravity in the form of weighted bars, dumbbells, or weight stacks to oppose the force generated by muscle through concentric or eccentric contraction. Weight training uses a variety of specialized equipment to target specific muscle groups and types of movement.
  5. Sports – What ever the competitive athlete enjoys, the aim of my system is to get you to a point were you feel more competitive with yourself, to push your limits. no, you don’t have to do a sport to train with me or have to even consider one, but if this is something you want to look into after you’ve achieved all your goals, then we can discuss further what sport you can get involved in. This keeps motivation high and constantly challenges us to improve.
